When she works with death magic the transformation is visceral — bark peeling back to reveal a scorched skeletal underlay, then slowly regrowing with flowers and moss as the working completes. She adorns herself with amber jewelry and paints her skin in strong colors and skeletal patterns, wearing her relationship with death openly.

Sylra enters the story as a diplomatic healer and quiet pillar of Xandor's stability. Through Tome I and into Tome II she becomes indispensable in a far more demanding sense — the triad of her, Xandor, and Grendar cannot function without her, and the personal cost of that role escalates with every rite she performs.
