Elemental Monarch
Appearance
Willowy with luminous skin and hair that shifts like an aurora — silver to lavender to rose, depending on her state of mind. Iridescent butterfly-like wings catch light at unexpected moments. Ethereal tattoos glow across her skin as conduits for her power. In her shadow form everything changes: claws emerge, her wings turn black, her eyes go crimson. It is not a transformation she announces.
Abilities
- ◆Shape-shifting — complete physical transformation, not merely appearance
- ◆Fae elemental mastery — commands fire, water, earth, arcane, shadow, and electricity with precision
- ◆Illusions — perceptual manipulation at scale
- ◆Rumored to have Telepathy — reads and occasionally influences thoughts
- ◆Pact-born ether powers — granted through a binding with an entity of the Ether realm
- ◆Rare command of shadow magic — a capability she does not advertise
Costs & Stakes
Every spell Xanthea casts channels through her curse — the eclipse bond makes her power a prison as much as a gift. The pact with the Ether realm entity carries a hidden cost she has not disclosed to anyone. She fears betrayal above almost everything else, and she fears losing the legacy she has spent a lifetime building perhaps more.
Tome I → Tome II Arc
Xanthea begins Tome I as a figure of distant authority — present in consequence rather than person. Thomas's arrival changes the calculus. In Tome II she becomes a direct player in Astrylis's fate, as her secrets about the underground labyrinth, the pact, and her bloodline become impossible to keep separate from the larger war.
