The cosmic architecture of Astrylis — from the luminous threads of the Ethereal Web to the darkness beyond
The Ethereal Web
The source of all magic
An invisible, omnipresent quantum field that binds the physical and metaphysical planes of existence. A vast lattice of energy and potentiality, resonating with the fabric of reality.
All beings interact with this web, but only a select few can manipulate its strands. It bridges thought and reality, allowing skilled individuals to manifest their will. Magic is not a tool — it is a living network that feels joy and pain.
A remnant of the Primordial Era, woven by the Ethereal Gods who infused the cosmos with their essence. The Weaver stitched the world together with the Ethereal Web and then vanished, leaving the fabric of magic behind.
Beyond the Web
Something ancient stirs in the spaces between threads
“Where the Web frays, they gather. Where memory slips, they breathe. The Unwoven are not enemies of light. They are what remains when the light forgets itself.”
Not all forces in Astrylis belong to the light. Beneath the luminous threads of the Ethereal Web, something older and broken stirs — a corruption not born from malice alone, but from the unraveling of harmony itself.
Scholars speak of it in fragments. Ancient texts contradict. Whole civilizations have different names for the same dread. What is known is this: where the Web weakens, these forces gather. And they are patient.
Terms recovered from forbidden texts
The beings, the corruption, the things that live between the threads — their stories are told within the pages of the saga.
The cosmic forces of Astrylis shape its gods, magic, and peoples.
